I'm not a camper by any means. I remember trying once in college, getting spooked by some sort of animal my group couldn't clearly see, and we packed it up right after failing to pitch a tent. That was enough to convince me regular camping isn't for me, but I'll always give glamping a try. These solar-powered glamping sites are completely off the grid, which makes them a good option if you're after dark sky tourism.

In today’s edition:

  • Argentina is selling its citizenship with a golden passport

  • Whimstay says it's never too late to find a place to crash

  • Big changes are coming to this major cruise line's loyalty program

Not that brave,

Argentina Is Launching South America's First Golden Passport

South America’s first-ever golden passport is nearly here and will launch in Argentina. It might just be the best one out there. We’re talking fast processing, the potential for the whole family to get in for free, the fact that Argentina is a shorter flight and an easier adjustment for Americans, plus visa-free access to a long list of countries.

Argentina's citizenship-by-investment program has been an ongoing process since July 2025, when President Milei signed Decree 524/2025, opening the door for international investors to obtain citizenship without ever living in the country. It's in the home stretch now, but officials are still hammering out details, like minimum investment amounts, which industries count, and what the actual application looks like.

There are no confirmed numbers yet on how much people would have to invest, but if other golden passport programs are any clue, expect a minimum of somewhere in the hundreds of thousands. Real estate, local businesses, or government bonds could also be options. A law firm in Buenos Aires says the government's actually looking at seven different ways you could invest, plus some kind of registry where local companies can request foreign money to be sent their way.

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡· What are the next steps?

All signs point to a launch before the end of this year. Once the program is live, there will of course be an application process, but a quick 30-business-day processing time. The first passports could be in people’s hands as early as 2027. I'll keep watching this one closely and update as soon as there's real news.

Whimstay's New Feature For Last-Minute Booking to Vacation Rentals

If you're a last-minute planner looking for a safety net to catch you, Whimstay just added one. The vacation rental platform announced that select properties now accept same-day bookings, so travelers can grab a stay up to four hours before check-in.

Up until now, vacation rentals just weren't an option if you needed a place as soon as possible. Between long lead times and hosts having to manually approve everything, you'd end up at a hotel or motel by default, because you could at least trust that one of them would have a room. Whimstay is trying to change that: instead of squeezing into a hotel room, you can book an entire home on the fly.

Whimstay added real-time fraud screening, including automated ID checks and fraud detection through Stripe, so people can book a place just hours before check-in without either side worrying about who's on the other end. The feature is live on participating listings now, and since Whimstay already works with property managers across the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe, it's likely to spread to more properties over time.

CEO Ben Jamshahi has shared that hotels have run same-day bookings for decades, so there's no real reason vacation rentals couldn't do the same. Now, for someone Type B like me who makes extremely last-minute travel plans, there's the option to make a decision at noon and be checked into a home away from home by evening.

Celebrity Cruises Announces Five New Ways to Get Loyalty Perks

If you cruise with Celebrity often, the line has just made its loyalty program a lot more rewarding. Captain's Club members can now earn extra perks at 1,500 and 2,250 points, instead of waiting all the way until Zenith status at 3,000 points. The new rewards include free premium Wi–Fi minutes, bigger discounts on specialty dining, complimentary photos to memorialize your vacation, and surprise gifts delivered to your cabin.

One perk that stood out to me is the late checkout benefit being added at the 2,250-point level. On eligible sailings, members can stay onboard longer after the usual disembarkation time, which frequent cruisers tend to appreciate. It's a small change, but it definitely makes the last day of a cruise feel a lot less rushed.

Celebrity is also adding new rewards for its most loyal guests. Zenith members still get a free seven-night Caribbean or Bermuda cruise, but now they'll receive extra dining discounts and other onboard perks, too. The line has also introduced new milestones at 6,000 and 9,000 points. Members who reach those levels can earn things like specialty dining experiences, a bottle of Champagne, and even a free cruise in a Sky Suite instead of a standard Veranda cabin.

Check out all the details here.
