Blacklane Launches Private Tours in London and Paris
|
Iāve been a longtime fan of using the luxury car service Blacklane for long rides to and from the airport after long-haul flights. The company has now added private four-hour sightseeing tours in London and Paris, so you can see both places from a reclined view.
š Where does the private tour take you?
In London, you get to check out all the classic sights like the Royal Albert Hall, the Tower of London, plus photo stops at Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, and the London Eye. Over in Paris, you get to see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre all from the temperature-controlled backseat. Itās a nice way to see it all without being crammed on a city bus or bike.
The tours last about four hours, and they are super flexible. You can get picked up or dropped off pretty much wherever and whenever, even at the airport for a little extra money. They even have family-friendly options with car seats, which is great if you have little ones.
š¶ How much are the private tours?
From my experience, Blacklaneās drivers know their cities well and are happy to share history or stop for photo ops whenever you want. Tours start at about $365 in London and $330 in Paris. You can choose from eco-friendly electric cars, ultra-luxe rides, or vans. They plan to have these tours running all summer.
You can book on their website or email the concierge team at sightseeing@blacklane.com.

Spirit Airlines Faces Possible Shutdown
|
Spirit Airlines is not having a good month right now. In a recent update, Spirit admitted its cash flow isnāt keeping up with what they owe, so theyāre thinking about selling planes or airport spots to stay in business. If that doesnāt work, they might not survive the next year. Itās dĆ©jĆ vu from last year when Spirit filed for bankruptcy after its JetBlue merger fell apart.
While the airline came out of bankruptcy smaller and with less debt, its current problem is making money. They reported a $184 million loss in the first three months post-bankruptcy. To increase revenue, Spirit introduced āSpirit Firstā seats, new fare bundles, and a premium economy option. They also added new routes and teamed up with Contour Airlines. Now with leisure travel in the States slowing down, Spirit is unfortunately still struggling to turn things around fast enough.
š¬ How will this affect travelers?
I wouldnāt worry too much about immediate travel; the airlineās warning is more about what could happen a year from now. A big date to watch is December 31, 2025, when Spirit has to renegotiate with its credit card processor, which could affect its cash flow even more. More details should come out as that deadline gets closer. If youāre booking with Spirit and feeling nervous, travel insurance might help, but always double-check it covers airline shutdowns before you buy.
Fingers crossed they figure it out before things get worse!

Amtrak Is Launching Its Quickest East Coast Train |
One thing I love about the East Coast is how easy it is to hop between cities without the stress of flying or the cost. Amtrakās fastest train is about to launch this month to make matters even better. On August 28, the brand-new NextGen Acela will arrive on the Northeast Corridor. It is the first major update to the high-speed route since Acela first rolled out in 2000.
š
Hereās where itās headed:
The new NextGen Acela trains will run between Washington, DC, and Boston, stopping in Philadelphia, New York, and Providence. They will be faster, reaching speeds of up to 160 mph, about 10 mph quicker than the current trains. They will also be roomier and come with upgraded technology. Thanks to a new tilt system, the trains will be able to handle curves at high speed, cutting up to 20 minutes off trips like DC to New York.
Expect 27% more seats and redesigned business and first-class cabins with larger windows, brighter lighting, and comfortable seats featuring privacy headrests. Every seat includes USB ports, power outlets, reading lights, and free 5G Wi-Fi. The trains will feature a new grab-and-go cafƩ, as well as food and drink service in business class, and full meals in first class, prepared by James Beard winner Stephen Starr.
Starting with five new trainsets this year and rolling out through 2027, the NextGen Acela will eventually offer more departures and faster trips. NextGen Acela tickets will go on sale soon through Amtrakās app, website, and station kiosks. Pricing and booking details are not out yet, but Amtrak will share more before launch.
