Booking a trip always gives me a little rush of excitement but scoring a deal makes me feel invincible. But, how do you know if youβre truly getting a good deal on airfare? Keep reading to learn a few sure-fire ways to confirm youβre getting a steal of a deal.
βοΈ Compare on Google Flights
Not only do I like to use Google Flights to compare flight prices, I like using their flight comparison chart to see if my flight is a good deal compared to the usual average flight price. I also use Google Flights to see if my flight would be cheaper if I booked the day before or after.
π Compare with nearby airports
If you live near a few different airports, itβs worth comparing prices between them. For instance, I fly from LA to Seattle quite a bit and I always check if the flights are cheaper from LAX or Burbank. It can also depend on the airline, so I use Google Flights again to see how I can get the best deal.
π Sign up for alerts on flight deals
If you despise doing the research to find flight deals, you can let someone else do all the work for you. With Dollar Flight Club, for instance, you can set alerts for your dream destinations, so whenever a deal pops up, youβll be the first to know. You can also set alerts on Google Flights as well.
π Donβt forget about your points (and use them wisely)
If you have a travel credit card, you should always compare how much it would cost you in points vs cash to book a trip. Sometimes itβs better to save your points and book with cash, but other times, you can get a good value on your points.
A big mistake people make with points, however, is not using them properly. Donβt forget that you can often get way more value out of your points when you transfer them to a partner airline rather than when you book directly through the portal. I recommend getting acquainted with what airlines your credit card transfers to and figuring out where you can get the most value out of your points.
