Perhaps because I travel quite a bit, I just assume that everyone knows the basics of travel etiquette, but every week I’m shocked at the way people behave while in close quarters.
I’m just saying that if I paid for extra legroom and someone did this to me, I’d be in a frenzy. Let’s have some decorum, folks—keep your feet to yourself, never take off your socks, and don’t clog the aisle as soon as the plane touches down.
(But feel free to have that 7 AM beer at the airport bar—anything goes.)

How to Save Money on Concert Travel |
|
“Groupie getaways” will be all the rage this summer, and while I’m a big proponent of traveling for show, it can get quite expensive. So, I’m gonna break down a few ways that will save you so much on concert travel that it will make your heart sing.
🏩 Book your hotel right away
Hotels and Airbnbs are likely going to be the biggest expense during your trip. Hotels like to hike the prices up when they know a big name is coming to town, so make sure to book a place as soon as you can.
I recommend booking a refundable room, so if you find something cheaper, you can cancel for free. And, of course, don’t forget to check how many points you have, just in case you can cover your hotel that way.
📍 Go the distance
Though a hotel farther away might be cheaper, consider the costs of ride shares and the transportation options. That can add up or add a long time to your commute, so make sure you pick the best option for yourself.
🎟️ Consider smaller towns
The way I started solo traveling was by booking trips to see my artists who weren’t coming to my town. I found that, oftentimes, the smaller towns might have a slightly longer or more expensive flight, but the concert tickets were so much cheaper that I actually saved money. Plus, the hotels tended to be cheaper. Don’t knock the small towns because that’s how I got third row seats to see one of my favorites for a third of what it would have cost me in my hometown.

Ask for gift cards for your birthday. If you know that there is a big artist going on tour. You can ask for Airbnb or Ticketmaster gift cards.

What to Do If Your Destination Has a Travel Advisory |
|
Given the slew of travel advisories we’ve had as of late, I thought it’d be a good time to remind you all of what to do in case your travel destination was issued a travel advisory.
First, it’s important to keep in mind that not all travel warnings are built the same. The US advisory system goes from Level 1 (Exercise Normal Precautions) to Level 4 (Do Not Travel). Level 1 means to exercise normal precautions, while a level four would be something that cancels a trip entirely, like the airspace closures in the Middle East right now.
What to do if your destination is Level 3 or 4
Levels three and four are when you should reconsider travel, or if you are already stranded, finding the quickest way to get out as soon as possible. These warnings are not meant to induce fear, but are meant to inform travelers so they can take the best plan of action.
If you are already abroad, you can seek out help from US embassies and consulates on top of reaching out to your airline for any flight help.
If you have not yet left for your trip, you should definitely delay or cancel your trip (and hopefully you bought travel insurance). You might be able to get a refund, but it’s not always a guarantee, as some plans might not cover certain areas.
Most of all, stay safe, exercise caution, and track local news outlets as well to stay on top of any new happenings.

It was hard to pick just one stay to feature in this section, but Cataloochee Ranch really caught my eye—mostly because it’s fun to say but also because of its unique offerings.
Located on the edge of the Smoky Mountains National Park, the massive expanse is a working cattle ranch but also an upscale resort. You can take classes like Roping 101 and borrow fishing gear before enjoying a barbecue meal while watching the sun set over the Appalachians. What really caught my eye, though, is the fact that it’s a designated DarkSky Approved Lodge, so you can bask in the glory of the night sky. |
