These days there’s a guide for just about everything, so don’t be surprised that there is a guide for the most dramatic places in the world to cry. I thought the airport or a dark corner of a dive bar would top the list, but apparently, there are far more impressive spots to let those tears flow!

In today’s edition:

  • A must-see map for chasing the best fall foliage

  • KLM’s flight sale for fall and winter travel around the world

  • A foodie’s guide to Washington DC

Weeping worldwide,

The Best Bites in Washington DC From My Recent Trip

I consider myself a pretty avid traveler, but if anyone ever asked for recommendations for visiting our nation’s capital, I shamefully had none until last weekend. I finally went to celebrate my friend’s housewarming, and with a free place to crash and points for the flight, it was practically free (lol).

Since my friends are big foodies and one of them is a self-proclaimed chef, we naturally went on a food tour between visiting all the monuments and a few museums (kudos to them for being such patient hosts). I ate so much, that I’m adding “food critic” to my resume.

Best bites in the capital

🦞 For fresh seafood and a nice outdoor vibe by the water, The Salt Line is a perfect afternoon spot that serves up an impeccable Lobster roll and calamari!

🧆 Washington, DC has the third-largest Persian community in the US, so I knew the food would be amazing. My friend recommended Rumi’s Kitchen, and it didn’t disappoint with flavorful plates and delicious cocktails.

🦪 A DC icon, Old Ebbitt Grill is beloved by locals for its classic American fare. You can't go wrong with any item on the menu, but the fresh oysters are a must-try.

Honorable mentions
☕️ Lot 38 for a morning bagel and coffee

🍽️ All-you-can-eat small plates of Balkan cuisine at AMBAR

🍹 Nightcap cocktails with a view at Bar Pendry

🌮 Elevated Mexican dinner at dLeĂąa

🌴 St. James for modern Caribbean cuisine
